Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 15, 2014 8:18 pm

Silent hoofbeats dragged across the grasses that covered the Everfree forest. A cloak draped the source; but the figure beneath it was definitely tall. Grass turned to dirt as the pony kept moving; the crimson eyes focused upon the Everfree caverns which few attempted to find. As the hoofbeats began to echo off the empty walls, the hood fell back to reveal the head of a mare. Her horn was longer than the normal Unicorns, but that wasn't as big as the fact that when her horn lit, the aura of dark magic took hold, creating black crystals to show up in a half-circle. As the effect faded, the mare felt slightly dizzy before quickly recovering.

Stepping inside the area, navy blue magic revealed plush coverings to appear where the mare then lay down to rest. Her cloak was removed, revealing a set of wings. This pony was indeed an alicorn; but a foreign one at most. Dark magic then revealed smaller crystals to form around the other half, concealing the princess in a circle of dark magic. The 'feeling' it gave off comforted her, and a brief sigh escaped her mouth before she finally rested her head to attempt at rest. She was tired from traveling around Equestria; and had found out about caves where it seemed that nopony dared to come by to find.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 15, 2014 8:26 pm

The rapid sound of hoofsteps filled the air, along with the gasping sound of somepony forcing themselves to hard. A young black changeling slid to a stop infront of the caverns, his gaze shifting around as he tried to catch his breath. He was unlike most changelings, having a body that looked a bit like a drone but he was the size of a young foal, had a mane, and striking green eyes.

The young changeling stumbled backwards as he turned and took shelter into the den, regretting his choice of trying to find shelter in these woods. While the animals had fled from him at first, they had quickly grown to realize that he was not a threat and had tried to attack the changeling many times.

As he strolled farther into the cave, hoping that no animal would follow him, he became aware of a black crystal poking from the ground. His gaze shifted upwards and he noticed that there was a whole circle of pure black crystals. He stumbled backwards, suddenly aware of the dark magic that poured out of them. However, his eyes didn't fail to notice there was a pony lying in the middle of them but he found no words to say as he just stared in shock at the scene in front of him.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 15, 2014 8:42 pm

Her chest was rising and falling to a calm rhythm, showing that sleep had taken her. The dark mare stirred from the noise of what sounded like exhausted panting, her crimson eyes opening slowly before she rested her head back down for a moment, but then curious as to where the noise came from. When the alicorn mare noticed the young colt though, her eyes widened and the crystals vanished with a cast of the dark magic. The soft coverings that she was resting on vanished, too.

The cloak was quickly picked up and draped over the mare, but the hood remained down. Panic and shock shone in her eyes, and it was obvious the tired princess was startled. "Ki, ki vagy te?" Her voice was rushed, and it was a few moments before she felt stupid. Why hadn't she remembered? The ponies here probably didn't understand her native tongue.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 15, 2014 8:49 pm

"I...I..." That was all the changeling could say, confused and very afraid. He was in his natural form, and most ponies would attack him on sight; he knew that personally. He didn't know what she said, but he took a small step backwards, feeling the panic and shock she felt rush over him. He was close to Canterlot, and he feared that this pony would turn him into the Royal Guard and he didn't want that...He just wanted to escape from...Escape from...

He paused, staring at her as he still tried to regain his breath. She wasn't attacking him. Did she not know what he was, or did the dark cave hide his true form from her eyes? He was to shocked to move, but he gently tiled his head. What did she say? Maybe... No, that would be silly but if he had been awoken by somepony he didn't know it would be the first thing he would say.

"Chrysos," he whispered in a soft voice, hoping he was guessing what she said right. "M-My name is Chrysos."

PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 15, 2014 9:01 pm

"Chrysos..." She repeated, and the way it rolled off her tongue, was something she found likeable. "My apologies. This isn't my native tongue, I forget that it isn't known here." Her accent could be noted, but she did fairly well in her opinion. She could see that this colt wasn't a regular pony; but found no threat in it. It hit her then suddenly, she had forgotten to introduce herself. Mentally scolding herself, the princess looked at her hooves for brief moment.

"Oh, I'm Chelphille. The words tumbled out at a faster pace than what she would've liked, but for good measure, the mare quickly repeated herself before finally calming down. Her chest hurt from the heavy breathing she had done, but it didn't affect her very much. Searching her memory to recall what type of pony Chrysos was, Chelphille rested upon the species 'Changeling' as her classification. Even thougth the princess from the Hungęl empire knew the theeat of this species, it didn't ever occur that she should worry. Of coarse, the alicorn rarely did anyways.

Chrysos paused as he shifted from hoof to hoof. "It is alright," he said in a soft tone. "It is an honor to meet you, Chelphille. I am very sorry for scaring you like I did, I failed to realize that you were here." He bowed slightly as he spoke, having learned how to be proper by his mother. He paused, meeting her gaze for a few seconds. "I am sure you have realized what I am," he said in a slightly cold tone. "But I sense no fear. I... I thank you for that. Most ponies would flee from my on sight, but I mean no harm."

Nodding, the alicorn let her cloak be removed from her body, revealing her wings. "You are of no difference than others just because of your history. I understand the feeling of worry you may have." Chelphille spoke softly, ruffling a few of her feathers. "My ability to use dark magic despite my title had me be cast prisoner amungst my own kingdom. I hold no difference to others anymore, as there is no use." Her words were kind, softly applying a sense of comfort to herself. Upon recalling her own banishment upon her home, a tear rolled down her face before shaking her thoughts away. The past she delt with was gone, and Equestria had offered her a home without shunning her. This was something her parents didn't do, and instead cast her aside as if she had done a terrible act to destroy Hungęl.

He froze as he realized that he was standing in front of an alicorn, but smiled softly as he dipped his head to her. "I am sorry to hear that Miss Chelphille, but I feel that I might know how to felt," he said, pausing slightly as he wondered to tell her the truth, but all he saw was an ally in her; somepony who would help him reach his dream. "I shared a view that most changelings would never dare to think of, and that made me an outcast. Of course, they never acted that way toward me but I knew it in their hearts," he said with a soft hiss, his green eyes narrowing. "Knowing that I could never be one of them, I left my home and came to this land in believing that maybe I could find place among these ponies...Under a disguise of course; I am aware they will never accept me for what I am."

With another brief nod, Chelphille then turned her head as to look outside the entrance to the cave, before resting back upon the changeling. "I understand. Equestria here has the kindest ponies I've ever encountered, fitting in amungst them doesn't seem to be trouble, apparently." Her crimson eyes had the soft haze from the magic she used return as she cast back some of the crystals. "From my kindness, if you need to rest I could cast you something soft to rest upon, Chrysos." Her offer lacked the one bit she kept to herself; the sheilding crystals. Chelphille had learned that they probably made some feel uneasy, which kept her restricting their appearance. The exhausted look of hers had also began to return; but was shaken quickly. "But it's alright if you reject." This note was quickly added, because she didn't want to make her new acquaintance pressured to accept if he didn't want to.

He paused as he thought about her offer. He had been well treated in his hive, and living on the run had wore him out more than he had been expecting. He was tired after almost getting killed many times today, so after a few seconds he finally nodded, sighing. "That...That would be wonderful, Miss Chelphille," he said with a slight inclined of his head. His whole body ached, and he was sure that if he had been on the run for any longer, he could of fainted easily from being so worn.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptySat May 17, 2014 12:12 am

A small smile crept upon the alicorn's face. Not long after, several large pillow-like items showed up in a near array, one on which a pony might sleep. "I do hope you rest well." Chelphille called softly, before her own 'bed' was finished, and the dark crystals had sheilded her once more. Stifling a yawn, she felt a soft evening breeze trail into the cave for a brief moment. Slumber once again embraced the foreign princess, and it was welcomed by Chelphille without problem.

PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptySun May 18, 2014 4:00 pm

Chrysos paused as he stared at the new pillows that the alicorn had summoned, and watched as she took rest upon the dark crystals once again. He couldn't help but shiver, still not enjoying the magic that the crystals let off but crawled onto the pillows. Resting his head on one of his forehooves, he sighed as he closed his eyes and gently let himself fade into the darkness of sleep.

-Timeskip-

When Chrysos next opened up his eyes, he shifted slightly as he felt the warm pillows below him. He also thought he was back at the Changeling hive until he relized that he didn't want to be there, and fully awoke with a start. He scrambled off of the pillows, but a few seconds later he realized where he was, and the night before flooded back into his mind.

His gaze shifted over toward the dark crystals, and the faint form of Chelphille he could make out. He stood up, dusting himself off as he paused. Should he leave now? He doubted that Chelphille would want him to stick around for long, he would only be a baggage for her. However, even thought he tried to tell his legs to leave the cave many times, he found himself just standing there as he waited for the alicorn to awake. Perhaps she would let him stay with her...Chrysos was tired of being alone.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptySun May 18, 2014 6:07 pm

It wasn't until a little later that she finally stirred awake, as she had been more exhausted than usual. Chelphille would've normally been already traveling again, but something had told her to rest more. When she rose, it took a moment before the crystals were cast away, as well as her pillows. Yet the alicorn didn't forget about the young changeling who had stayed in the cave overnight with her. When Chelphille turned her head and saw Chrysos, the near-black alicorn briefly dipped her head. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?" A small mental celebration played out when she remembered to speak Equestrian rather than her native tongue.

Chelphille also took a brief moment to cast away the pillows she had summoned for Chrysos, the result being only a few visual particles that shimmered briefly.

Chrysos had just been standing there, waiting for Chelphille to awake and when she finally did, he dipped his head slightly toward her in return. "Yes, I did," he said, his green eyes glimmering. He paused as he looked at her, shifting slightly. "Tell me, what are you planning to do now, Miss Chelphille?"

"Now? To be honest, I am unsure. I have of no use but for travel, and have yet to settle upon a single place." Chelphille replied calmly, a small frown appearing. She would end up lonely either way; it was just what happened. But it wasn't impossible to figure out that the princess was tired of roaming alone, and she would gladly let the colt accompany her if he pleased. "How about you, young Chrysos?" It was the only reply she could think of at the moment, and the thought of being insincere wouldn't be something Chelphille'd ignore any time soon.

Chrysos's gaze fell as he the question was turned on him. "I have no idea," he muttered as he dragged his hoof along the ground, staring at the holes that covered his legs. "I've spent so much time running, I never thought about where I would go after I escaped." He shook his head slightly as he turned his eyes back to the alicorn, titling his head slightly. "You don't think...That maybe, I could join you? I have just been so lost...We Changelings are normally part of a hive mind and being away from it...It makes me realize how alone I truely am."

Chelphille's small frown turned to a soft, sympathetic smile. "I guess it won't hurt. Just as long as you don't accidentally start feeding off me." The alicorns' voice was soft, and her eyes showed the same soft look. Even though the haze from her magic was there, it was still notable. "I just kid about the feeding part, though. I understand your disliking of your native ways." Chelphille had the thought that she had offended Chrysos, and had to apologize. But she had no clue about what to do next. Maybe visit other places in Equestria? Settle for awhile in a town? It was not clear to the princess on what she would do, but that would be a smaller worry for now.

He had frowned slightly, but when she apologized, he dipped his head in understanding. He turned slightly to stare out of the tunnel, shifting slightly. "So what shall we do? Shall we travel, shall we lay low?" He paused, shifting slightly. "Of course, I will suppose I will have to disguise myself either way."

Chelphille nodded. "I suggest disguising as a guard. It would make us blend in better if we stop in a small town." Her crimson eyes focused upon the young changeling, and she ruffled her wings which stayed folded at her sides. But when Chelphille thought she saw something, it broke her focus. "Pesky cockatrice. I hate them." The alicorn hissed quietly, remembering how annoying they are to get rid of.

Chrysos nodded, but paused when she spoke again. Cockatrice? The name rung softly in his head, but he was confused by the name so he turned his head to look at the creature that the alicorn had noticed. He blinked in surprise to see a chicken at the entrance of the cave. Or, at least he thought it was a chicken until he saw a snake's tail trailing behind it. Then he remembered a warning that his mother had told him.

Never, ever, look it in the eyes. It could turn you to stone with a single locked gaze. So he knew it was important to get the cockatrice out of here as soon as possible. So, he took a small step forward and took a deep breath, and let his magic rush over him. A thin green line of magic ran down his body in a second and he felt his body change forms. A second later, a large manticore stood where the changeling had stood a moment before.

Chrysos' large dragon-like wings flared on his back as he arched his back, showing off his scorpion's tail as he hissed. As he took a step forward, he let out a large roar. He watched as the cockatrice took a small step backwards, clearly surprised by the sudden appearance of the much larger manticore. It didn't take long for the cockatrice to decide that it wasn't worth staying here, and quickly turned and fled.

Chrysos the manticore said nothing as he watched it run off, before he shook his head. He let his magic (even thought it felt strange as he didn't have a horn) run over him once again, and after another flash of green overtaking his body, he was back to his changeling form. He stumbled backwards slightly, a big lightheaded from the transformation. Being able to change into creatures other than ponies was a rare gift that only the royal changelings could do, but that was still a kept close secret, mostly that they tried not to do so as it was taxing on them as it took a lot of magic to do so.

But Chrysos stood tall as he shook his head and turned to look back at the alicorn, his green eyes slightly duller than normal. "Ah...So, guard you say?" he said, with a small buzz of his wings. "I think I can do that."

Chelphille was surprised at what she had seen. She knew that Changelings well... changed, but never knew that they could turn into other creatures other than ponies. But hey, the cockatrice was gone. That's what mattered most to Chelphille. "I never knew Changelings could change into other creatures besides ponies..." The alicorn said, clearly amazed. But with another soft flutter of her own wings, Chelphille was indeed smiling. Something she didn't do often; but the young colt in front of her sure could make her do so.

Nodding to him at his response, a small chuckle also escaped her. "When we do leave, I have no idea what direction we should head off in." Chelphille confessed, looking off at the entrance to the cave.

Darkest of Evenings Empty
PostSubject: Re: Darkest of Evenings   Darkest of Evenings EmptyThu May 29, 2014 4:53 pm

He was surprised by her response to him changing into an manicore, so as he stared at her, he sighed softly. "Not surprised. We...Ah, rather try to keep it hidden as only few of us have it." He decided to leave out the part that it only royal changelings could have it; he wasn't comfortable with being known as a prince.

Hoping that she wouldn't ask more questions, he changed his mind onto thinking of a new form. A guard...He had seen a few on his travels and the changelings had their own version. So, he slowly though together a form that would fit being a guard of Chelphille. His eyes sparkled as he though of a form, and gently looked up at the alicorn.

"I have an idea of where we could go. I recall seeing what looked to be a town before I headed into the Everfree, and it shouldn't be that hard to retrace my steps," as he finished talking, he closed his eyes and let out a small hum. He let his magic rush over him once again, and felt his body change as the thin green line flooded over his body.

A moment later, he was in the form of a fully-grown dark grey stallion; a pegasus. His wings were faintly tipped white at the edge of the feathers, and his eyes were a faint bloody red. Finely crafted white armor rested neatly on his body to match Chelphille's own white armor. Small marking were sketched into the armor that were outlined in a light grey but still stuck out. His tail was black and a color that could only be descried as a dark teal like color.

His flank however was covered; hiding what traces of a cutie mark he would have but Chrysos knew what it was. It was a pure black shield with a red crystal in the middle of it, with a faint green light coming from it. The talent this pony had was to simply guard Chelphille from harm.

Now fully disguised, he gently dipped his head as he looked up at her. He paused for a few seconds, before he opened his mouth to speak. "You do believe that I should go by Chrysos still in this form? I fear that it may blow our cover as how similar it is to the name of the Queen of the Changelings," he said, his voice deeper and colder as he stared at Chelphille.

"I don't see harm in it. I could always cover." Was all she replied, her eyes fixing outside. "That would be a good place to go. I haven't seen any other ponies besides you for awhile." Simply put, Chelphille wanted to meet more ponies. With no Empire of her own to rule or a place to call home, she never really kept a single companion or friend. But now, Chelphille had a feeling that would change with the presence of Chrysos.

The alicorn never actually took a good look at this form. When she turned her head, Chelphille was surely impressed. "Chrysos sounds like Crystals almost. That's the only reason why, as crystals are something I'm connected to. It will work." A soft smile from Chelphille finished her sentence. This was followed by a brief nod, the smile still there. "I think you should lead, as I surely don't know where we're going."

He paused for a few seconds, trying to come up with a real name that normal ponies went by. "Crystal...Then my name shall be Crystal Shadow." Yes, that name fit due to the dark nature of his fur, and with his cutie mark having a crystal. He had heard of an Empire made of pure crystals, so he decided that if anypony asked, that would be where he was from. The Crystal Empire. His mother had mentioned it once. He spun and turn, nodding slightly as he walked in a brisk step out of the cavern and into the forest beyond. "Just follow me, Miss Chelphille. We will get to...Ah..." his voice drifted for a second. What was the town called? "Ponyville as soon as possible. The less time I have to spend in this dark forest, the better."

"Alright. Lead the way, Crystal Shadow. But I must inform you, the Crystal Empire, if I remember correctly, was once ruled by somepony why used dark magic and was exiled. So, a Crystal Empire beyond the lands of Equestria, perhaps?" That was her only knowledge on the Empire- that the stallion whom had ruled it using said magic had been banished. Taking a small step back to let Chrysos, or Crystal Shadow, know that he could take the lead when he was ready.
