Now, What's That on the Roof?

The soft leaves stirred on top of the Golden Oaks Library as a young pony rose. It was the beginning of the night, and it was time to leave her resting spot. It was unusual to her, being able to remain unseen or unnoticed where she had been. Heck, she had been there for two years! Opening her bat-like wings, the mare stood up and stretched before sitting down again for a moment. Sighing, the bat-pony then took off from the plush leafy rooftop and landed on it again to stretch her wings. Swiveling her ears to see if anypony was around, she then continued to pace around on the roof. She was afraid that if she came down, she would be caught and have to leave. So, to her, another restless, lonely night of pacing and watching the sky began.

The dark teal mare always kept a supply of fruits with her in a neat pile on the library. Her stomach grumbled, so she had decided to pick up a pear and bite into it. The juicy snack would be enough to settle her for awhile. But she would have to find something to do soon, because she couldn't take another night of restless waiting for the daytime to come around. Normally, she would go fly around the town. But tonight she wanted something elso to do, the company of another pony. What was weird was that she had no contact with another pony in many years, as to why she never spoke. Well, she did speak, but it was extremely rare for her to do so. The violet eyes she had looked up to the moon as she continued to pace, hoping to figure out something to do.

The moon now rising, it was time for Burning Ash to take her post. She stepped out of the house that she called home, flaring her bat-like wings. Her purple armor glimmered in the moonlight as she flapped her wings and took to the skies. She headed toward the Golden Oaks Library, wondering a bit if Novel was still awake. She knew the mare a little, but they had spoken a bit since Ash had come to Ponyville. She swooped down and landed in front of the library, shifting in her armor. Her bright orange eyes glimmered in the faint light as she spun her head around. 

It was a bit boring to be a guard in Ponyville, but she did enjoy the peace and quite that the nights gave her. So, she stretched her wings as she flickered her ears, strolling away from the library and toward the streets of Ponyville before she came to a stop, deicing this could be a good place to keep watch.

Occ: Random note to remember; I have decided that wearing all sets of her armor puts an illusion over her wings that make them look like a normal bat-pony.

As night was coming about, a sleepy unicorn herself had gave a small yawn before getting up, rubbing her eyes awake. Full moon tonight... Having a room by the balcony was a bit ridiculous with all the noise and ruckus she'd here when it's daytime, but, that's why rising awake with the night is so much more soothing. Too bad sleeping with the sun meant that Luna can't guarantee what dreams you get sometimes. Heading out to the balcony to use the telescope, her horn glowed as a tattered red book floated over - a lock on it -, as she opened it up and had it floating as her feathered pen wrote. Having a soft smile on her, Lunar began to record the star's positions once again and started trying to predict when the next meteor shower would be. Her thoughts were so absorbed, she didn't notice the sound of a grumbling stomach, but when her telescope changed positions out of the ordinary, she quickly readjusted it only to notice a pony in the distance. "Ash...?" To be honest Lunar knew little to nothing about the bat pony, only that she was offered a place to stay at the library... And then the sound of biting with fruit appeared. Looking up, Lunar saw a neat pile of fruits stacked on each other, and... Some pony?

Hearing noises of what sounded like other ponies, the mare shrunk down into the leaves. Flattening her bat-ears, it took her a moment before she finally was able to move somewhat towards the edge. Peering over to where she could see that she had been noticed, Lithium instantly shrunk back. No, I want to stay here! She thought, alert and scared. Looking over the edge one more time, Lithium then gathered more information of the pony below. A unicorn, who was white and seemed to be interested in stars. Looking out into the distance, she then tried to see who the other mare was in the distance... But, another bat pony? That took the young mare by surprise, as she kept her wings close to her body. Looking back to the white unicorn, she kept her head tilted in confusion. Keeping her mouth shut, she then mentally scolded herself for just staring. She then moved back a little bit, before spreading her wings and lunging off the roof to see who these other ponies were.

Burning Ash had turned around at the right time to see Lithium leap off the roof. Her eyes narrowed as she flared her wings, taking into the sky. That couldn't have been...Oh, what was that pony that lived with Novel...Lunar? Yeah, Lunar. Burning Ash was sure she had seen wings of some sort on the figure, so it wasn't that unicorn. She flapped and flew her way over, before coming to a stop not far from Lunar. "What is going on here?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. However, she pause when she saw Lithium. "Oh," she simply said in response to the bat pony.

Blinking her eyes and taking off her glasses to see for a moment, Lunar narrowed her eyes until a figure of wings leaped off the roof and straight back at the balcony... Make that two shadows. Taking a few steps back, keeping her horn steady on her telescope, book, and pen, the unicorn eyed both of them, unsure of what to say but kept a smile on her. The telescope was still glowing a a crisp clear blue moon as with the two floating objects around her. "What am I supposed to say? I don't know how to start conversations..." the mare thought, keeping her mouth closed as she observed the two ponies, taking a few notes on them in secret in another book which had just floated out of the library towards the balcony.

Suddenly a little scared, the bat-pony flattened her ears. Gulping, she held her wings out slightly at her sides and had a forced smile. Lithium waved her hoof, trying to keep a positive look on her face. It was obvious she probably wouldn't be talking, except for saying her name. Well, to her it was. Even though this was the first contact with ponies she'd had in a long time, it didn't help her situation for talking.

Landing on the railing next to Lunar, Burning Ash stood there with her wings spread out, using them for balance. She looked at Lithium with narrowed eyes, feeling like she knew this bat pony from somewhere...But where? She shook her head with a sigh, before she glanced at Lunar. "May I take it you two do not know each other?"

Trying to keep her focus on her book in the back taking notes on what was happening right now, recording immensely as she shifted her memory to text. Lunar gave a shrug and didn't really reply, only shaking her head in sign of a 'no'. Clearing her throat real quick, the unicorn scarcely spoke a few words before utterly stopping, "Don't know her." Wasn't it strange that she was still smiling for whatever reason that was?

Shaking her head to confirm what the unicorn had said, Lithium looked at Ash curiously to see if she could remember anything about her. "Lithium..." Her voice sounded a little hoarse as she said her name, tucking her wings close to her dark teal body. Her bright-colored mane stuck out from her darker colored body, and she turned her tail around her hooves, as she was sitting down. Looking quietly reserved, she looked at the books that were hovering around the unicorn. She felt out of place, having hid for so long and not knowing any pony. Hopefully, Lithium wanted to find friends with these ponies

"Lithium?" Well that caused Burning to freeze. She knew that name...How did she know that name? She hopped down from her perch on the railing and looked at Lithium with narrowed eyes. Finally, her eyes grew wide and a small smile broke over her face. Ah, yes, Lithium! Sitting down, Burning reached up and tugged off her helm and breaking the spell that was over her wings. In a flash, her bat-like wings were normally pegasi wings, but she kept her other bat pony features. Setting her helm down, she grinned at Lithium. "Lithium! Its me, Burning Ash! Do you remember me from school?" She wouldn't exactly not blame Lithium for not knowing; Burning was about six years older than her but even in the large difference of age they had friends for a few years, even with Lithium being a quite as she was. At least it wasn't hard for Burning Ash to remember her friends all that much; most bat ponies looked down at her for her half-blooded nature.

Her pen was almost going to snap at this point from how fiercely she was focusing her magic onto it... Lunar let out a sigh, taking deep breaths before simply backing away slightly. There was an awkward silence lingering from her, since the unicorn was one - really out of place; two - not a bat pony; and three - not from the same school as them. So... she just kept silent as she gently recorded the conversation.

Taking a minute to try to remember the pony, she perked her ears and nodded when she did remember. Getting up, she liked at the telescope again before looking at the sky. Pointing her hoof in a direction towards a certain constellation, Lithium smiled. "Follow.. Canterlot..." She was pointing out the pattern of stars to go to the capitol of Equestria. Lithium had only pointed it out because she had noticed it, so if needed, that was the direction to go. The bat-like wings she had were opened, but slightly curled. Before she had pointed in that direction, she had nudged the white Unicorn as she had the feeling she liked stars.
